Real Life Applications of Area and Perimeter
Many careers like architecture, engineering and graphic design use the concepts of area and perimeter on a regular basis. 7G students recently had to opportunity to explore real-life applications of area and perimeter in Math unit on Measurement. Using the Floorplanner Chrome extension within Google Drive, the students designed a floor plan for a house following specific criteria and requirements. After creating the floor plan, students used area and perimeter formulas to conduct calculations of different locations within the house as well as a final calculation for the entire house.
Here are some samples of their work:

Hour of Code at Netivot
This week, millions of students around the world, including Netivot, participated in the Hour of Code event. This one-hour introduction to computer science is designed to demistify code and show that anybody can learn the basics of coding. Our students were excited to try coding using a variety of tools and apps. Students in Mrs. Naiman and Mrs. Miller's class had fun exploring coding on the iPad using the Kodable App. Our Tech club students have been working with Code.org to create short animations of different objects. Check out some samples of the animations they created below.
